Faith

Faith has power. By faith the world was created, and through our faith the power for miracles works in our lives. It is by faith that we’re divinely comforted, strengthened, taught and helped. Over and over again is the manifestation that faith is the number one principle.

  • Nephi had so much faith that he confounded his wicked brothers (who wanted to kill him) and spoke words of truth to them when being filled with the spirit. He said, “If God had commanded me to do all things I could do them. If he should command me that I should say unto this water be thou earth, it should be earth; and if I should say it, it would be done. And now, if the Lord has such great power, and has wrought so many miracles among the children of men, how is it that he cannot instruct me, that I should build a ship?”
  • Alma’s father had great faith when praying for his son insomuch that when an angel appeared to his son the angel said, “Behold, the Lord hath heard the prayers of his people, and also the prayers of his servant, Alma, who is thy father; for he has prayed with much faith concerning thee that thou mightest be brought to the knowledge of the truth; therefore, for this purpose have I come to convince thee of the power and authority of God, that the prayers of his servants might be answered according to their faith.”
  • Alma and Amulek withstood evil men who cast them into prison insomuch that they were filled with heavenly power. The prison walls tumbled down and destroyed the wicked and yet Alma and Amulek weren’t hurt.
  • Nephi and Lehi, the son’s of Helaman, had so much faith that when they went to the land of Nephi and the Lamanites cast them into prison they were encircled by a pilar of fire, unharmed.
  • Jesus Christ appeared to the Nephite’s and healed everyone of them. The account says: “And it came to pass that when Jesus had thus spoken, he cast his eyes round about again on the multitude, and beheld they were in tears, and did look steadfastly upon him as if they would ask him to tarry a little longer with them. And he said unto them: Behold, my bowels are filled with compassion towards you. Have ye any that are sick among you? Bring them hither. Have ye any that are lame, or blind, or halt, or maimed, or leprous, or that are withered, or that are deaf, or that are afflicted in any manner? Bring them hither and I will heal them, for I have compassion upon you; my bowels are filled with mercy. For I perceive that ye desire that I should show unto you what I have done unto your brethren at Jerusalem, for I see that your faith is sufficient that I should heal you.” He blessed the children, prayed to the Father on their behalf and angels came down and ministered to them.
  • Several times during his ministry Jesus said, “Thy faith hath made thee whole.”

It is thru our faith and desire to serve God and follow Jesus Christ that we can be healed, cleansed, protected and purified. The Holy Ghost works in us through our faith in Jesus Christ and purifies us through the blood of the Lamb. We receive comfort and strength whenever praying in faith and it allows us to experience divine power and love.
