I believe that in pre-earth life (our first estate) our task was to choose Heavenly Father’s plan. Our choice became a war in heaven and one-third of the heavenly hosts chose to not follow God and they got cast out:

• “And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born….And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

• “…The devil was before Adam, for he rebelled against me, saying, Give me thine honor, which is my power; and also a third part of the hosts of heaven turned he away from me because of their agency; And they were thrust down, and thus came the devil and his angels.”

I believe that in this life (our second estate) our task is to prove what we said we would do – follow Heavenly Father’s plan and keep His commandments:

• “And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them.” 

I believe that those who kept their first estate (chose Heavenly Father’s plan) were added upon by getting bodies and being born, and that those who didn’t keep their first estate were cast out of heaven and didn’t get to further progress. Then I believe that those who keep their second estate-here on earth (follow Heavenly Father’s plan and keep His commandments) will go to the Celestial Kingdom for eternity. (Have eternal life.)

• “And they who keep their first estate shall be added upon; and they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever.”

We already chose Heavenly Father’s plan and now our task is to follow it; He will know if we’re true because He knows our hearts. It doesn’t matter if some people don’t believe this – don’t let their negative comments throw you off – just follow your heart and do what feels right.
