The weekly bulletin for my Ward’s Sacrament Meeting at church on Sunday (that comes to my email on Saturday’s) indicated that today’s meeting would be done by missionaries and I knew I’d feel the spirit today and my feeling was true. The meeting was done by elders and sisters on service missions. People become service missionaries for various reasons and it’s beautiful that someone who thinks they’ll never serve a mission gets the opportunity to serve the Lord. Today I experienced a great outpouring of the spirit as the missionaries shared their testimonies. Many of them expressed feeling not good enough before their missions and these words really hit me:
Imperfect people are all that Heavenly Father has to work with, according to Elder Holland, and I think of Moses, Moroni and Joseph Smith who felt inadequate but they acted anyway. Moses said the people would not listen to him because he was slow of speech. Moroni said the people would mock his words. Joseph Smith was unlearned. But through the Lord’s power and by small and simple means they accomplished great things.
We were reminded that:
The worth of souls is great in the sight of God.
I can testify that when we come to Jesus Christ and learn the truth about ourselves in a deeply personal way we know the Lord accepts our humble sacrifice to love and serve him. He gives us ability beyond our own to accomplish his purposes and we learn we ARE good enough in the sight of God.
