In Nephi’s mighty vision of seeing what his father saw Nephi said, “As I sat pondering in my heart I was caught away in the spirit of the Lord” … “The spirit said Look! And I looked…”
I love the holiness of this account that as Nephi pondered he saw things in his mind’s eye. The same has happened to me. As I’ve sat pondering, something in my heart and my mind has opened up to see things. (Seeing myself kneeling by my bedside and the Lord kneeling next to me and putting his arm around my shoulders as if to say, ”It’ll be okay”; Angels saying, “Shoo! Shoo!” to doves in my backyard.)
In studying a vast amount of topics many truths have unfolded and become clear to me.
In seeking truth many things have taught me and have expanded my mind. (Books; Music; Poems; Art; Pictures; Friends.) Anything can teach me when I’m open to learning, “When the student is ready the teacher appears.”
Many dreams, like visions, have told me things.
For years I’ve been awakened or stopped in my tracks with various thoughts in my mind. I used to think the wise words in my mind came from me because I thought them but then a few years ago I realized, “I’m not that smart. All good things come from the Lord.”
For all of my life impressions have led me to act.
Sometimes the Lord has comforted me himself. (“I can’t, you won’t let go”; “I’ve been with you your entire life and I’m with you now.”)
Through feeling the spirit the Holy Ghost has touched my heart. Through pondering, studying, seeking, dreams, and thoughts the Lord has blessed me with much knowledge. Through impressions he has led me to act. And through himself he has comforted me.
