I always feel extra close to the Lord on Sunday and am enlightened and illuminated, and think of eternity. The first thought in my mind today was part of the hymn The Light Divine:
- The light of God rests on the face of brook and flow’r and tree and kindles in our happy hearts the hope of things to be. (The Light Divine)
The following scripture, associated with the song above, pierces my heart:
- O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. Psalm 43:3
Today, thinking of God’s holiness and divine light gets me all choked up…He is the most powerful being in the universe and I feel Him in my heart. In the scriptures the Lord said, “Draw near unto me me and I will draw near unto you.” I have drawn near to Him in prayer-talking to Him like a friend and pouring out my heart to Him because I know He’ll help me (and He has many, many times.) He has come to me because I’ve come to Him.
My heart overflows because of God’s tremendous love. His love isn’t meager, it isn’t just good enough it’s the best. He gives me all that He has because it is his character. Words like abundance, fullness, and everything come to my mind and I think of harvest time when the fields, trees, vines and plants are brimming with fruit. Or I think of a steady rain and how the droplets of water are too many to count. Or I think of the scripture where the Lord said, “prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
The Lord is good and I love feeling extra close to Him on Sundays. Surely, I draw near to him on other days of the week as well but on Sunday He gives me an extra portion of His love; maybe it’s because he hallowed the seventh day (which is Sunday to me.) Whatever the reason, He is my forever friend, my Lord, my God and my king, and I praise His name forever.
Prayer, scripture study, church and ordinances have led me to the Lord and I love having Him in my life. My testimony today is that He is the reason for everything that I am.
