I know -somehow I just know absolutely in my heart, without any doubt- that everything the Lord declared will come true (no matter how long ago He said it.) Same with prophecies, my heart absolutely believes that every prophecy will happen (no matter how long ago it was prophesied.)
I’m prepared and ready to move forward when the call comes but until then I’ll patiently wait. It’s not a matter of believing something like, “If it doesn’t happen by this time then it’s not gonna happen” but of having unconditional belief.
I’m reminded of the unbelieving Nephites in Third Nephi who didn’t believe in the prophecy of Samuel, the Lamanite. (Prophecy: There will be a nighttime without darkness, signifying the Savior’s birth.) The unbelieving Nephites said they would kill the believers if Samuel’s prophecy didn’t happen by a certain date. Whoa, that’s drastic! What did it matter to them if the believers hoped for something they didn’t?!!)
In today’s time would some people kill those who aren’t like them? (Maybe not physically kill but destroy with hate.) What does it matter if others hope for something that they don’t? Are people willing to destroy to prove themselves right? What does it matter??
I think of the movie The Hobbit when Gandalf showed the immortal blade to the counsel. Sauroman said, “What proof do you have that it’s Angmar’s blade?” And Gandalf said, “I haven’t any.” To which Sauroman said, “Because there isn’t any” and basically said it was from a mortal man. Sauroman didn’t believe what Gandalf did. I think of Alma and Korihor, the Anti-Christ, and how Korihor didn’t believe like Alma and so he denied that God was real.
There’s belief and unbelief. I declare what I believe but don’t expect anyone to change. I want us all to be friends and focus on things that bring us together not things that break us apart. Just as I’m free to declare my beliefs so are others. All I’m saying is that I’m prepared and ready to move forward when the call comes but until then I’ll patiently wait.
