Why do I act on personal inspiration? Because in my heart I feel to do it and because I believe in good outcomes. I may not know the reason for responding but the Lord does and that’s good enough for me, therefore I trust Him and act; I want the Lord to know He can count on me.
I know without a doubt that acting on inspiration (even when I don’t understand) is important because I never know what good it will do. When prompted to do something my task isn’t questioning but acting.
My recent experience:
In the midst of doing something difficult I felt extremely bummed. Right then a phrase from President Monson’s talk “Stand in Holy Places” repeated in my mind. In his talk President Monson told an incredible experience that happened to him in 1987 of following a prompting that was counter to all his instincts. Regarding his decision President Monson said, “Remarkably, however, I felt no alarm. I felt a sweet, undeniable assurance that all would be well.” Those words were what I needed to hear because they took away my bummed feelings and instead filled my heart with knowing that it would be okay. What a blessing!!
