God never left Jesus in His most difficult trial and He will never leave you or me.
We are God’s focus. God continually watches over us so that at any moment He can help us. God didn’t put us on earth to be alone but to live life; He is always with us; we are His work and His glory.
And lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days; for thou shalt deliver my people from bondage, even Israel my chosen -Moses 1:26
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you . -John 14:18
At the Last Supper Jesus said:
- “Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.” (John 16:32)
Then, while on the cross Jesus said:
- “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46)
I do not believe for one second that the Father ever left Jesus on the cross. Surely, the scripture about being forsaken is a mistranslation meant to disrupt our faith in God. Jesus was able to accomplish the Atonement *because* of God’s divine power. The Atonement was the pivotal part of God’s Plan of Happiness and He never left Jesus but helped Jesus accomplish His most difficult trial.
