This quote was on Instagram today by a well-meaning group:
We need to understand that there is an opposition in all things and that the righteous choices we make are critical. -Quentin L. Cook
I believe this quote was taken out of context because it implies being perfect and always making correct choices. The fact is that I don’t always make correct choices but through my faith in Jesus Christ and the power of repentance I can learn from my mistakes and become stronger from my experiences.
By realizing the adversary always tries to bring me down to act as the natural man, all I can do is depend on Jesus Christ to lift me up to become my best self. I can overcome my weaknesses and imperfections, not on my own, but through relying on the miracle of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Righteous choices bring me closer to God and each righteous choice helps me become like Him. Each time I fall and rise again it strengthens my resolve to make better choices and improves my testimony of love for my Lord. The most important things I can do are: 1. Learn from my mistakes; 2. Repent and keep trying to do what’s correct; 3. Follow the example of Jesus Christ; 4. Love God with all my heart, soul and mind.
