Today is my favorite holiday – Easter; I love it because today commemorates the greatest miracle ever done. I celebrate the greatest gift given to me and all mankind; that Jesus Christ took on Himself everyone’s sins in the garden of Gethsemane and rose from the dead after He died on the cross. Because of those acts I can repent (ask God for forgiveness) and eventually be immortal after I die (be resurrected and alive forever.)
I love how Christ selflessly did the Atonement to empathize, comfort, help me overcome my weaknesses, and encourage me to improve. This scripture says perfectly what I mean:
“And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.”
I love how Christ arose to life again so the grave would not be my final resting place. He overcame death and because of it eventually I and everyone will rise from the grave to live forever. (The gift of immortality is given to everyone who dies.) I couldn’t say it better than this scripture:
“And he cometh into the world that he may save all men if they will hearken unto his voice; for behold, he suffereth the pains of all men, yea, the pains of every living creature, both men, women, and children, who belong to the family of Adam. And he suffereth this that the resurrection might pass upon all men, that all might stand before him at the great and judgment day.”
What I’ve done in my life is never too much for Christ to redeem. I can never sink too low or go too far to save because “No one can ever sink below Christ’s Atonement” – Jeffrey R. Holland; I believe it’s true with all my heart. (I love what I heard – that Christ is the rock bottom; when I hit rock bottom, Christ is there to comfort and lift me up.)
I love Jesus Christ. He comforts, helps, is always there, and is my everlasting friend. I love that one day I’ll be resurrected from death. (Knowledge of the Atonement of Jesus Christ gives me great hope that I can improve my life, and it gives me great peace in knowing that my life and everyone’s life continues after death.) I love Jesus Christ’s example and live my life to be like Him. He is my rock and my everlasting God. #hallelujah followhim.mormon.org
